Do you have an imagination? If you could be anybody you wanted to be, who would it be? If you could play any role you wanted to play in a movie, what role would you play?

Well, I have a fun little audition of sorts I’d like to offer you. It’s something on my www.lifestand.com site called “Casting Call”.

In Hollywood, where I worked many years as an actor, most of us actors had certain types of characters we liked to play because it just seemed to suit us better and we where cast in those roles. It’s called typecasting. And I think that in life, everybody has certain characters that they play better than others.

That’s not to say that we have to be content with being ‘one dimensional’ or typecast like that. On the contrary, I’m a big believer in developing a flexible personality than can adapt to new roles as life presents different situations.

But do you know what role, what type personality, what kind of character most suits your inner self? Most people don’t. Most people just go along doing what comes natural and being whoever they naturally are.

Several years ago I hired a top ranked psychologist to do something for me, and actually for my acting students too, that would help determine what kind of character they really were. Frequently my students found that they had attributes of characters that they admired but never thought they’d be able to be like.

It’s called “Casting Call” and it’s a test that you can take that will determine what kind of personality you have and match it with a well known Hollywood movie character. For example, I have a good friend, one of my NicheCeleb students, who recently took the test and was surprised to discover that his inner personality was James Bond.

According to the answers he gave on the test, he discovered that he was adventuresome, very confident and liked to take risks. He thought that was funny because when he was a kid, he said he was known as being rather shy.

But I’d like to invite you to take the Casting Call test too. This same fellow I mentioned above, the one who was cast as “James Bond” the first time he took the test, recently took it a second time. This time it said he’d be best cast as a hair stylist, fashion designer, chef, actor, artist, musician or flight attendant.

When he got the results of the test back he didn’t agree with all of the ‘roles’ it said he’d be good in but it did just so happen that he is a very artistic, musically oriented guy who’s a real ham in front of the camera.

He’s also the guy who coined the phrase I mentioned to you the other day….”I’m camera comfortable in ______!” And in that regard, he actually does have some of the James Bond spirit of adventure in him.

But I’d like to invite you to take the test and then shoot me an email and let me know how accurately you think it ‘casts’ you as an actor.
