Why Would Anyone Want To Be An Actor?
I’ve been pretty successful in my many years of acting but I’ve always tried to be as transparent and accessible to the public as possible. Because I am so accessible, I’m often get asked for advice by young, aspiring, up-and-coming actors.
When they ask my advice, my first reaction is usually to ask them a question……“Why do you want to be an actor?”
It’s amazing the answers I get. Ultimately of course I can’t be overly critical of what anybody’s reason is for wanting to be an actor but there’s one element I always look for in peoples answers. And if this critical element isn’t in their answer I always make sure to point it.
I always tell them that one of the best reason to be an actor is because of what you can do for other people.
Now, some people think that actors do more taking than giving, right? Maybe even you think that.
Well, that might be true in some cases but me and most of my actor friends have lots of stories about how people have drawn inspiration from our characters and our lives as actors.
Being an actor isn’t easy but then again neither is anything else. And I can tell you that acting imitates life because being ‘second best’ isn’t nearly as good as ‘best’. In acting, there’s a big difference between do a great job and doing a so-so job.
In most cases you know right away whether you gave a good performance or not…..especially on stage and on Broadway. You can see it on the audience’s faces, you can tell by the applause (or lack of it) and you can certainly read it in the critic’s columns in the newspapers.
Acting can be both very unforgiving and very giving. Actors know the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. We actors enjoy our work but many of us also have business ventures on the side that create income too.
Sometimes these ventures are successful and sometimes they’re not. For those that are…we certainly don’t mind making the money.
But something most of us also know is that the thrill of a good performance is far more exciting and rewarding than the profits we make from these other businesses. Our greatest thrill is making those emotional connections with somebody in the audience of a theater, in a concert, on a TV show or (lately) in a video online.
We also will tell you that our acting skills have been more responsible than anything else for everything we’ve been able to achieve offstage. We’ve learned that the greatest challenges in life are matters of the heart and soul. We recognize that learning how to be a good actor has made our heart and soul more able to meet and overcome the challenges that life inevitably throws in our path.
That’s why I’ve put so much time and effort, along with my two sons James and Tyler, into our recently released success coaching program called “NicheCeleb”.
I had the idea for NicheCeleb several years ago when I was recalling how many different kinds of personalities I’ve played in my many Hollywood movies, countless TV shows, and long on-stage career. I got to wondering whether my portrayal of those roles was realistic.
In doing some introspection and informal research of my own I began to ask a lot of non-actor friends what they thought about not only my characters but other famous characters portrayed by other well known Hollywood actors. The vast majority of them told me that they drew a lot of strength and inspiration from the characters of Hollywood and TV (i.e. from the ‘good guys’ that is!).
Next, I pondered this question: “If I’m just acting….how can it be so real to so many people?’ And that’s when I began to realize that thoughts can become things and that we actors are often very successful in other areas of life because we’ve learned to master (or at least to ‘channel’)our thoughts and emotions.
That’s the purpose of NicheCeleb. Obviously everyone can’t, and probably doesn’t even want to be, a Hollywood actor. But everybody has a need to master their own unique personal challenges. Almost everybody wants to develop more personal confidence, style, communication skills, leadership ability, decisiveness, courage, sensitivity, and overall positive attitude about life.
NicheCeleb is a course to help you do that…and the course is where my sons, James and Tyler come into picture (no pun intended).
James and Tyler McFadden were one of the early pioneers of using YouTube videos for online marketing. Early on they saw that online video could be more than just entertainment and idle amusement. They realized that, just like their dad had done in Hollywood and TV, video online could be a powerful tool to shape opinions and attitudes and move people to positive buying decisions. They became one of the first proponents of online video marketing using Youtube and one of the first YouTube Partners.
When I shared with them my idea for the NicheCeleb course, a course that would teach Hollywood acting skills for online success, they immediately had all kinds of ideas for making it the most successful course of its kind ever by putting it in a video format.
So that’s where it is today. The NicheCeleb course is a power collection of written lessons and videos that will help you conquer your camera anxiety to become a confident, persuasive and likeable online celebrity.
You’ll learn how to become the ‘niche expert’ in your line of business. It might be affiliate marketing, or perhaps you’re marketing your own product, or perhaps you’re in network marketing or perhaps you’re just promoting a charitable cause.
Whatever your activity is online, you’ll do it better when you’ve had a chance to learn all that I can show you in this course. It’s fully interactive, closely supported and you’ll be help accountable for each assignment. James, Tyler and I won’t let you waste your money.
So why don’t you pop on over to our page at http://www.nicheceleb.com and request the free video and report we have prepared for you. You’ll really like it because it’ll get you started on becoming the ‘star’ that you know you are.

Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
