Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me
Lets have a cup of coffee. make mine black, hope thats politically correct . Thank you very much.
Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me Please tell that to Don Imus, Michael Richards and what the hell it’s Mel Gibson. The straw that broke the camels back was shock jock Imus stupid racially insensitive remarks about Rutgers woman’s basketball team. That got him booted to the curb and rightly so.
National advertisers will probably be all too careful in the coming months, hoping that another Imus incident doesn’t blow up in their faces. Think I’m wrong? Rev. Al Sharpton, who led the charge against Imus, has already said this is only the start. Sharpton has tasted big success from the Imus firings — and will take major credit.
If he comes marching into the office of Comedy Central to talk about some off-color jokes on “South Park,” what do you think those executives will do? If he walks into any of the young-skewing advertisers who buy time on that show, what do you think those companies will do? A coalition of civil rights organizations, clergy and Rutgers alumni said they will begin a campaign to boycott gangsta rappers, the music companies that record them and radio stations that glamorize them in an attempt to combat lyrics abusive to women and blacks. Boy is that music to the lawyers ears, 1st amendment cha ching. We the public have to take the blame for letting the English language become so butchered , abused, misused, neglected and I am sorry to say forgotten. The voices of outrage and anger should take a look at our School system. Young people coming out into a world with out good communication skills they can’t speak the language but they know how to rap. Last, but certainly not least, The Pen has always been mightier than the Sword. Words win!!! Check Please and give it to Don Imus. I will leave the gratuity.
Be Bop!
