Is it enough that Pop Sensation, Britney Spears is rampaging the scene drunk, drugged up, and getting knocked up that she is influencing her little sister who “stole the show,” recently with the announcement of her pregnancy? But at least Nickelodeon is here to help.
Nickelodeon is considering a special for its young audience about sex and love following the news that 16-year-old “Zoey 101″ star Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.
A Nickelodeon spokesman, Dan Martinsen, confirmed the discussions but said no decision had been made.
Spears, the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears, told the OK! celebrity magazine this week that she was pregnant. The father is her 18-year-old boyfriend, Casey Aldridge. She said she plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana.
Nickelodeon has made no comment beyond a supportive statement for its star: “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”
We need to find a more constructive way for us to be aware of these celebrity children’s well being. Jamie Lynn represents the next generation of teen idols, and what a way to represent. Values and morals have to be instituted in order for our youth to be aware of the consequences of impulsive behavior. We are all players in this world, role players that is, and we need to understand that there are certain things that can kill your character from being the star in your own play in life, and impulsive, habitual behavior can lead to that demise. So, let’s snap out of it and start educating our youth.
