I’ve notice that one of the video concepts that has gotten a lot of attention for the last few years that video marketing has been a buzz is the idea of having a video that ‘goes viral’. Everybody talks about have a ‘viral video’ as if it’s some sort of Holy Grail of marketing.
I suppose having a video go viral is a good thing for one’s video marketing campaign but the other day I was contemplating why it is that so few marketers do have videos that go viral.

Hi Video Superstars…I hope you’re all enjoying your Christmas season. It’s certainly been a busy and (some would say) tumultuous, year hasn’t it? Certainly there have been a lot of new tools and techniques creating buzz on the internet but certainly nobody can deny that the growth and impact of online video and video marketing has been one of the primary topics getting lots of attention.
Today I’d like to remind you that your videos don’t have to be perfect to be effective. Yes, people who promote video marketing and YouTube like I do talk a lot about the right way to do this and that but the simple fact of the matter is that most people never do anything….right or wrong. The implication of that is that you can beat the majority of your competition be doing any video at all. They don’t have to perfect in all those ways we’ve discussed in the past.

I hope you’ve been well. Have you been making any videos? I sure hope so because video continues to become even more prominent in online (and offline) marketing of all sort. I’m speaking especially of the YouTube Online Video Resume.
As you’ll remember, I recently mentioned my idea of helping our returning US military service men and women learn how to use YouTube online video resumes to make resumes to help them in their job search campaigns when they get back to the US. I’m continuing to work on the idea of the online video resume and have received great support and encouragement from several different sources.

0You already remember that the internet is going more and more toward ‘video marketing’,? And you know that Google owns YouTube. And you know that top rated videos almost invariably wind up on page one of Google. The ‘game’ for marketers thus far has been trying to figure out how to consistently get videos ranked on YouTube because if videos can get ranked high on YouTube they’ll almost invariably be ranked high on Google too.
