American Idol: This season

This season has had its ups and downs without the personality of Simon Cowell there is a definite positive spin on the season. Without much of the discouraging harsh words in the beginning stages, Steven Tyler offers great criticism but is in a way, a little too nice. Idol seems to be missing a lot of its previous edge that it once had.

Nevertheless there is still amazing talent being shown each and every week. The ratings this season have not dropped below a 1% margin on the previous season.  This show continues to give opportunities to America’s talented and undiscovered. Down to the final 13 this round  many were disappointed with the choices made. Haley for example has been said to have made it through not on her talent but on her flirt charm and ability to woo over the judges and home audience.

With current favorites online popularity ranks showing 15 year old Thia in first place, Scotty in second and Pia Toscano in third it will be interesting to see what comes in the next week. I know for certain it was very cool to watch Casey’s rendition of Screamin’ jay Hawkins, “I put a spell on you”.

With the top ten show looming this Wednesday the contestants will have to really pull out all the stops to impress the judges and make it through to the next round. According to Internet polling Ashton, Hailey and Stefano are set to go home this week based on the popularity vote. That is of course unless they are able to pull out an amazing performance.

I could see Hailey getting through again with her charm being an American idol seems to be very much about image as well as singing talent. Although it is difficult to say who will make it through ultimately it is a giant popularity contest and whoever gets the most votes from the typical American public is who is getting in to the next round.JLO

All of the contestants should be grateful for the opportunity at this point however. Having been able to go to Hollywood and meet stars such as rock legend  Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. As well as the amazingly talented singer, actor, dancer JLO. Any of the guidance, coaching and exposure these contestants get are sure to help them in some form of career even if it is on a smaller scale than a major recording contract.

What is also interesting is if you enjoy a performance from a particular contestant as well you can download it almost immediately after it has been performed on live television through apple Itunes. Even if an artist does not make it through to the final 10 or even the final 3 they can experience some of the fame that comes with having one of their songs downloaded and sold.

Tune in this Wednesday to see some amazing performances from the final 13 and see who will make it through to the final 10! Watch their self-confidence move up the tone scale.
