To Tell The Truth
1Heaven Hi!!!
Lately, I’ve noticed that in this day in age, we have to be informed when somebody is telling us the truth. For example, how many times have you ever heard somebody say before they are about to tell you something:
-To be frank
- can I be honest
-to tell you the truth
-honestly speaking
-To tell the truth honestly
If you’re like ME……too many times. Most of the time I keep my thoughts to myself, and the past few weeks occupied me with a heavy load of private thinking. You might think this is WEIRD for me to say to you, but I believe it, so I MUST say it: Nietzsche tried to tell us “that truth may sometimes be harmful.” The biggest myth is people think that the truth will do more harm than good. That couldn’t be more far from the TRUTH.
Why Writers Walk?
11Heaven Hi!!!
Well we might have to get used to watching reruns for awhile.
Members of the Writers Guild of America manned picket lines Monday morning outside NBC studios at Rockefeller Plaza, carrying signs and yelling, on the first day of the Writers Guild of America’s strike against studios and production companies.
Late-night talk show and comedy shows, including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” have announced they’ll air reruns Monday night and until further notice. If the strike continues, it could affect soap operas, and prime-time television programs as well.
The writers’ union says the strike, which began at 12:01 a.m. PT (3:01 a.m. ET), is necessary to protect their members’ future incomes as the shows they write are increasingly distributed over new media, primarily through Internet downloading. A last-day effort to reach a new work agreement collapsed Sunday night despite the writers conceding a demand for a doubling of how much they are paid for DVD sales. This had been considered the major stumbling block to a deal.
American Gangster Bringin' the "Bang" to Hollywood!!!
0Heaven Hi!!!
Goodfella’s, Godfather, Mobsters, Casino, and now……American Gangster!!!
Set in the late 1960s and early ’70s, Ridley Scott’s star-driven “American Gangster” positions Harlem’s notorious drug kingpin Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) as an entrepreneurial self-starter in the black economy. A country boy from the South, he studies status and power at the elbow of Bumpy Johnson (Clarence Williams III), an old-school inner-city crime lord who hands out turkeys on Thanksgiving.
In the film’s brisk, info-loaded first act, we see how this watchful, attentive henchman puts his learning into effect to step into his boss’ shoes. When he needs to underline the new order, he does so promptly and with the minimum of fuss: He shoots his loudest rival in the head right out in the middle of the street.
How Do You Shift Your Talent?
0Heaven Hi!!!
When we talk about being the star in your own play of life we like to look at a few examples of people who have done that………………
He calls it his “night off,” but Brian Williams will spend it on the air as host of this week’s “Saturday Night Live.” Though he’ll be broadcasting from NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters — the same building where he anchors “NBC Nightly News” — this assignment “is an entirely different creature,” he noted Thursday. “This is NOT my line of work.”A guy who’s used to being in charge, he observed that, doing “SNL,” “You just hand it all over to these guys and say, ‘You’re the professionals.’ It’s a very interesting feeling.”And, as he spoke, it was just the beginning. His first rehearsal awaited him later in the day, after his “Nightly” broadcast.Taking on a role traditionally filled by show-biz celebrities and the occasional pro athlete or politician, the 48-year-old Williams is the first network anchor — active or retired — to host “SNL” since Edwin Newman in 1984.
Let’s look at my book, Acting For Real, and see how Williams has shifted his creativity towards another talent. On NBC’s Nightly News, he usually puts a 50% emphasis on his humanities, talking about issues ranging from entertainment, government, politics, and world events. With this SNL stint under his belt, he has revealed another side to his creativity. He has shifted his focus 50% towards his humor. With 25% focused on his smart sexuality, and 25% of his focus on his humanities, being that was his initial identified character. Brian Williams proved that no matter what you do, it is possible to change your character to play different roles admirably. Well done sir.
Who's Not In the New Star Trek?
0Heaven Hi!!!
The original Capt. Kirk is disheartened he won’t get to boldly go anywhere with his old pal Spock in the new “Star Trek” movie.
While Leonard Nimoy is reprising his role as the pointy-eared Vulcan in next year’s science-fiction flick, William Shatner is not on board as Kirk.
“I couldn’t believe it. I’m not in the movie at all. Leonard, God bless his heart, is in, but not me,” Shatner, 76, told The Associated Press on Thursday. “I thought, what a decision to make, since it obviously is a decision not to make use of the popularity I have to ensure the movie has good box office. It didn’t seem to be a wise business decision.”
Director J.J. Abrams announced last summer that Nimoy would reprise the role he originated opposite Shatner in the 1960s television show and played again in six big-screen adventures.
Abrams said Shatner probably would have a part in the film, which is due in theaters in December 2008. But while Shatner said he had a couple of meetings with Abrams, nothing came of it. Abrams’ “Trek” film, whose plot is being kept under wraps by distributor Paramount, recounts an early adventure for the crew of the starship Enterprise, with Chris Pines as the young Kirk and Zachary Quinto as the young Spock.
Beware of the Dark Side!
0Heaven Hi!!!
Yoda said it best: ”Beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they, or what we as Actors For Real would call, the Dark Triangle of Human Behavior. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight.” Spider-Man 3 showed us Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) giving in to the dark side — in the form of a parasitic black unitard from outer space. In Spidey’s universe, the nefarious force doesn’t create Darth Vader-y intergalactic despots, though. It just makes a guy tart up like the bassist for Green Day and dance, dance, dance! And that illustrates how Spider-Man 3 went off the rails. Despite its melancholy pomp, nothing was as deadly serious as it should’ve been.
Peter Parker represents the creative triangle of Human Behavior. He focuses 50% of his character towards his humanities. Saving lives, and a natural respect and love for the well being of people in the world. Which is why he has dedicated his life to being Spider-Man-the embodiment of justice, and integrity? The genius contrast this film does is it shows direct contrast to everything Spider man is. Spider-Man tries to defeat evil, but to defeat evil does he slowly become bewitched into thinking that the only way to defeat evil is to become evil? Thus, the conflict that Spider-Man suffers in this film.
Are You Ready To MAMBO?
1Heaven Hi!!!
Well, it’s time once again to MAMBO our way back to the dance floor for our Dancing with the Stars review!!!
For the faint heard ‘round the world we welcome back Mrs. Marie Osmond. However, her number shocked crowds, because there were two points in her dance where she was supposed to fall to the ground, one in the middle, and then again at the very end. Both times you could hear the audience gasp for her supposed faint, but each time she got back up it was obvious that these were intended collapses. Marie? Don’t worry us like that!
But, alas, today we are turning our attention to our boxom blonde beauty, Jennie Garth. She mamboed her way to a score of 27 out of 30, the top score of the evening. Last week she stiffened up unable to meet the beat, but last night she was Balanced, Observant, and Present, and she blew us away.
Alphabet Soup Success!
1Heaven Hi!!!
Well if your T.V. show title reads like an alphabet soup mishap then you’re probably doing pretty well. For shows like NCIS, CSI, The Law and Orders: SVU, CI, some of the top rated shows have proven to be hitting strong in the ratings, with NCIS toppling the charts right now.
Then there are those stellar ratings. Last season, it averaged 14.5 million weekly viewers to rank 17th among all shows. For the week of October 15, it drew more than 17.5 million viewers to gain the No. 6 position. It’s just behind “Grey’s Anatomy,” proving that sexy young things have yet to achieve a TV monopoly.
“‘NCIS’ is the little show that could, a true hit that does not get the attention it deserves,” said Marc Berman, analyst for Media Week Online.
Is it Already Time to say Goodbye?
0Heaven Hi!!!
Well is it already time to say so long to ol’ Jay Leno. Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that Jay was old.
After a 15 year run Jay has announced that he will be taking his bow and leaving the stage to Conan O’Brien come 2009. Jay Leno has been remarked as one of the hardest working men in showbiz. Churning out fresh material five nights a week and charming the audience Leno has proven to be a standup legend of late night television.
Leno took the stage back in 1992 filling in for another other legendary figure, Jonny Carson. Jay started off doing standup comedy gaining merit enough to fill in the late night seat.
